A New Chapter for Waterpoint Enniscrone

It has been a busy few weeks at Waterpoint Enniscrone, and after plenty of hard work behind the scenes, it has been fantastic to welcome the local community back through our doors.

From preparing the centre for reopening and training our team to celebrating with our Family Fun Day, a huge amount has happened in a relatively short space of time. Now that Waterpoint is back open under the management of Coral Leisure, we wanted to take a look back at the journey so far and what lies ahead.

Getting Waterpoint Ready

When Coral Leisure was tasked with preparing Waterpoint for reopening, there was plenty of work to be done.

Over the weeks leading up to opening, the centre was a hive of activity. Painters, tilers, electricians, carpenters, pool engineers and staff all worked behind the scenes to prepare the building and ensure it was safe, welcoming and ready for customers.

At the same time, a new Waterpoint team was being recruited. Once in place, staff began a comprehensive programme of induction and training, learning new processes and procedures and preparing to provide high standards of customer service and safety from day one.

It was a major team effort, and one that extended well beyond the walls of Waterpoint.

The support received from the Enniscrone community throughout the process was incredible. We would once again like to thank everyone who helped along the way, including the Waterpoint Board, Sligo County Council and the many individuals and local organisations who supported the team during the reopening process.

A special thank you also goes to Jennifer and the team at the Ocean Sands Hotel, who provided space for staff training while preparations continued at the centre.

Opening the Doors Again

After weeks of preparation, the moment everyone had been waiting for finally arrived: Waterpoint was ready to welcome the community back.

The reopening marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for a facility that has served the community for 27 years.

Alongside the reopening came increased opening hours, new membership and Pay As You Go options, and a renewed focus on making Waterpoint an inclusive and welcoming facility for individuals and families throughout Enniscrone and the surrounding communities.

Whether it’s a morning workout, a swim, a fitness class, learning a new skill or simply spending quality time together as a family, the aim is to make Waterpoint a place with something for everyone.

A Family Fun Day to Remember

One of the highlights of our reopening was undoubtedly our Family Fun Day.

The day brought families, friends and familiar faces from across the community together to celebrate Waterpoint’s return.

There was plenty happening throughout the centre, beginning with climbing wall races before the official ribbon-cutting ceremony at midday. The afternoon continued with gym challenges, pool inflatable sessions and children’s entertainment.

Visitors could also get involved in activities throughout the day, including our treasure hunt, with prizes adding a little extra excitement for some of our younger visitors.

More than anything, however, it was brilliant to see Waterpoint full of people again.

The turnout and support from the local community made all the work leading up to reopening worthwhile, and we’d like to say another huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day such a success.

More Than Just Reopening

Opening the doors was only the beginning.

Since reopening, Waterpoint has quickly begun building up its programme of activities, classes and services, giving customers even more ways to get active and involved.

Our gym classes are now underway, with customers already taking part in sessions including Spin and HYROX. It has been fantastic to see people coming along, getting involved and trying something new.

The pool programme is developing too. Our Aqua Aerobics taster session gave customers an opportunity to experience the class, with regular 45-minute Aqua Aerobics sessions now taking place each week.

The early response to our classes has been very encouraging, and we’re looking forward to seeing even more people taking advantage of the activities available at Waterpoint.

Making Waterpoint Easier to Access

Another important development since reopening has been the launch of the Coral Leisure Customer App for Waterpoint.

Both members and Pay As You Go customers can register through the app, select Waterpoint Leisure Centre and access services through their account.

The app is another step towards making it easier for our customers to interact with the centre and access the activities and services available to them.

Combined with our membership options, Pay As You Go access and growing programme of classes and activities, we want Waterpoint to be accessible to as many people in our community as possible.

Looking to the Future

While reopening Waterpoint represents an important milestone, everyone involved recognises that this is also the beginning of a longer journey.

The building is now 27 years old, and further investment and development will be important in ensuring the facility continues to meet the needs of the community for many years to come.

There have been commitments at both local and national government level towards the future development and upgrading of Waterpoint, with further information expected as those plans progress.

In the meantime, our focus is on continuing to develop what we offer today.

We want to build on the positive start we’ve had by expanding our activities, classes and services and creating a centre where people of all ages and abilities can exercise, swim, learn, have fun and feel part of the Waterpoint community.

To the Waterpoint and Coral Leisure teams, the Waterpoint Board, Sligo County Council, local businesses, everyone who helped prepare the centre and, most importantly, the people of Enniscrone and the surrounding communities – thank you.

The response throughout the reopening and in the weeks since has been fantastic.

We’re delighted to have Waterpoint’s doors open again, we’re excited about what comes next, and we look forward to welcoming you on your next visit.

Waterpoint is back – and we’re only getting started.
